The sandstone peaks of the Wadi Rum area, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are a coveted destination for climbers all over the world. However, only a fortunate few are able to make their dream a reality. Jordan offers a one-of-a-kind and genuine rock climbing experience with its rich historical legacy, pleasant weather, secluded climbing routes, and incredibly welcoming locals. With the guidance of the Bedouins of Wadi Rum, who possess years of climbing knowledge and experience in the region, be prepared to embark on an adventure of a lifetime into uncharted territory.
Highlights
Wadi Rum mountains
The Wadi Rum area is predominantly situated around the primary valley of Wadi Rum, with the highest point in Jordan being Jabal Umm ad Dami, reaching a height of 1,840 meters (6,040 ft) above sea level - or 1,854 meters according to SRTM data - located 30 kilometers south of Wadi Rum village. It was initially discovered by Difallah Ateeg, a Zalabia Bedouin from Rum, and on clear days, offers stunning views of the Red Sea and the Saudi border from its peak. Additionally, Jabal Ram, or Jebel Rum, which stands at 1,734 meters (5,689 ft) above sea level, is the second highest peak in Jordan and the highest in central Rum, towering above the Rum valley and situated across from Jebel um Ishrin, which is possibly only one meter shorter.
Petra
Petra is an ancient city located in the southwestern region of Jordan, known for its unique architecture and historical significance. Carved out of sandstone cliffs by the Nabataean people over 2,000 years ago, Petra was once a thriving trading hub along the Silk Road, connecting the Arabian Peninsula with Europe and Asia. The city features numerous temples, tombs, and other structures, including the iconic Treasury, which has become an emblem of Jordan. Visitors can explore the winding Siq, a narrow canyon that leads to the city, and marvel at the intricate carvings and craftsmanship of the ancient Nabataeans. In 1985, Petra was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it has since become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region, drawing visitors from all over the world to experience its unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty.
Beduin people
The Bedouin people are a nomadic group of Arab tribes who have lived in the deserts of the Middle East for thousands of years. They are renowned for their exceptional skills in navigating and surviving in harsh desert environments, as well as their unique cultural traditions and way of life. Bedouin communities are typically characterized by a strong sense of hospitality and generosity towards guests, which is deeply ingrained in their cultural values.

Day 1
Arrival at basecamp
Fly to Amman, the capital city of Jordan. Take in the stunning landscapes of Jordan as you travel together to the first meeting point, Wadi Rum Camp, where your journey truly begins..
Day 2-6
Climbing days
Our journey takes us to explore some of the finest crags within the Wadi Rum protected area, which are inaccessible without the invaluable expertise of the local Bedouins. Following a full day of climbing, we return to our camp where we can take a refreshing shower, enjoy a delicious meal, and savor some tea while we rest up for the next day's adventure.

Wadi Rum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so we'll dedicate some time to explore some of the most interesting sites like:
Beduin Road
Prepare to embark on a journey along the renowned Bedouin Road, where you will hike and scramble your way through Jebel Burdah, tracing the same path used by Bedouin hunters to reach the iconic rock bridge. Afterward, you will set up camp in the vast desert and spend the night bivouacking under the stars, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of Wadi Rum.
Petra
Before departing for Amman, we take the opportunity to explore Petra, renowned as one of the "7 New Wonders of the World," by embarking on a proper hike and tour of the magnificent ancient city. Upon concluding our visit, we spend the night in the capital city of Jordan.

Last day!
After a good night's sleep and a warm shower, we're off to the airport, in time to catch our flights back home.

The area has a rich cultural and historical heritage, with ancient rock inscriptions and numerous archaeological sites that date back to prehistoric times and is also home to the nomadic Bedouin people who have been living in the valley for centuries, offering a glimpse into their unique way of life.

Climbing Skills
Even if you'll be accompanied by a IFMGA mountain guide it is necessary to have a good level of climbing. We recommend to climb sport routes graded 6b (VII).

Fjello selects local partners with the utmost care. For any inaccuracies, however, we can not accept any liability. Climbing and skiing are risky sports that takes place in nature. Ultimately, you are fully responsible for the choices you make. Fjello recommends that anyone who does not have sufficient knowledge and skills not go outdoor alone. All our trips include a local certified guide who will take care of your group. Enjoy your adventures safely with first-hand information from the locals.

During your trip, you will be staying at the Bedouin Outdoors Camp, which is a family-owned and operated establishment situated within the Wadi Rum protected area, a mere 7 kilometers from Wadi Rum village. The camp prides itself on being eco-conscious, utilizing water sourced directly from the Lawrence Spring and preparing meals using locally-sourced ingredients, cooked to perfection by skilled Bedouin cooks.
